Congrats Stephanie!
Meet our first “Woman in Ag,” Stephanie Abts.
Stephanie and her husband, Keith, own and operate Abts Champion Dairy in Champion. They milk 110 grade and registered Holsteins and raise all of their own crops. Additionally, they raise 225 head of their own steers and heifers. Stephanie also works as a Dairy Nutrition Consultant with Rio Creek Feed Mill in Algoma.
Stephanie wants consumers to know that "Wisconsin’s Dairy industry is made up of some of the hardest working and most passionate people you will ever meet. Working 365 days a year is not for everyone. Every day producers get up and work hard to produce a wholesome and nutritious product for the consumer to use. Every farm has different goals and facilities, but the end product is still the same. This is what makes America’s Dairyland unique.”
The dairy industry has had a huge impact on Stephanie's life. Agriculture has been a part of her life from little on. She first purchased a calf from her father's herd at the age of ten and is still raising offspring from that heifer today. To Stephanie, agriculture has been not only her passion but her purpose in life. She says, "It has shaped me into the individual that I am today." In addition, she enjoys giving back to many individuals within the industry. She strongly encourages individuals within the industry to give back and take time to teach and guide the youth that is around us. Her husband and she love all dairy products, but particularly Hennings co-jack cheese and ice cream.
Thank you, Stephanie, for continuing to share your passion for our dairy industry!
