A couple days late but...Wow what a weekend at Smoke on the Rail BBQ Festival!
Thank you to Andrew and the entire team for bringing such a great event to our hometown every year. This competition marked our seventh KCBS event since beginning our journey two years ago right here at Smoke on the Rail. We’ve learned so much along the way, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support and knowledge shared throughout the BBQ community.
On Day 2, we had the opportunity to host our first judge working toward his KCBS Master Judge certification. We had a blast with Mike, enjoyed sharing our process with him, and appreciated gaining a little more insight from a judge’s perspective. Thank you again to Wolf's Revenge BBQ for taking the time to explain how the hosting process works and how they handle it with their team.
We felt much more confident in our cooks on Sunday and improved several of our scores, although we slipped out of the top 10 in brisket. In the ancillary categories, we finished 4th in Cocktails, adding to our 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place finishes from Saturday!
Congrats to B's Que Crew and Boggs Hog BBQ Team for GCs and BBQ Maestros and ElJefe Smoke for RGCs this weekend!
We have a 2 month break in our schedule before we return for 2 comps in October (Harrisburg and Bel Air).
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, supported us, cheered us on, or shared advice throughout the weekend. We’re proud of how far we’ve come since our first competition here two years ago, and we’re excited to keep building from here! 🧡💙
