Dear Pineland Farms Friends and Neighbors,
We’re sharing heartfelt news about changes at Pineland Farms that will open exciting new opportunities for our future. This summer, we will be bidding farewell to our demonstration dairy herd in New Gloucester, but the production of Pineland Farms cheese will remain unaffected. This decision will help us to ensure Pineland’s continued growth as a community destination and to offer more robust agricultural programs and experiences.
The demonstration dairy herd has been a beloved part of Pineland Farms. We are deeply grateful to our dedicated farmers for preserving the rich history of our Holsteins and caring for these animals with unmatched skill and passion.
As we transition away from an active milking operation, we are working to find appropriate farms to care for our dairy herd. While the milking operation will no longer continue, cows will still be part of Pineland Farms, including our Highland Cattle.
We encourage everyone to continue supporting Maine’s hardworking dairy farmers by purchasing local milk and dairy products. Our collective support ensures that family farms across the state can thrive. Pineland Farms Dairy Company will continue to purchase millions of pounds of Maine milk annually from local farms to produce award-winning Pineland Farms cheese.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand our educational programs, welcome new animals to the Valley Farm, and continue offering events like the Corn Maze, Maple Week, and Strawberry Moon celebrations.
Thank you for your support as we honor our past and embrace the future together.
Warm regards,
The Pineland Farms Team
