Most are rescues as we have taken in 17 alpacas and llamas in, over the last 18 years. We have selected some of the best genetics to begin our herd with. Drambuie, Caligula, Bueno, Royal Fawn, Felix, Shakelton, Victor, Camilio, Vengador, Atocha's Gold, Snowmass Casanova, Dom Alamir, and Gold Stock are just some of the lines we are working with to continually improve our stock. We have chosen to at
tend only the biggest shows in our area and by mail to compete at the highest level. Our alpacas have done exceptionally well in the show ring and at fleece shows confirming the decision to select them as foundation animals. The main goal of our breeding program is to produce offspring superior to their parents. We strive to achieve unsurpassed characteristics in fineness, density, crimp, staple (architecture), staple length, confirmation, bite, temperament, and, above all else, good health in our herd. It is important to us to know the characteristics of each animal on the farm so the best breeding decisions can be made for improvement. By going to many seminars and symposiums we have become quite educated in fleece and confirmation evaluation, as well as physical wellness. Our number one priority will always be to provide the best care and comfort for these wonderful animals and help people enjoy them through therapy opportunities. Our veterinary contacts have also contributed greatly to this end. Snowfire and I are certified through Pet Partners, Inc. We are willing to share our knowledge with you and invite you to plan a visit to our farm so we can discuss the advantages of owning some quality livestock you just may fall in love with! UPDATE: I have retired from teaching and have more time to devote to my fiber indulgences, pet therapy opportunities, and gardening. We are not showing or breeding much but are still rescuing and providing temporary shelter for needy animals. We have rescued 10 animals, since 2007. I plan to become more involved with 4H and Ag Extension endeavors, when the pandemic subsides. Still enjoying these precious animals.
