If you know what this is, you are probably already getting excited.

We wait patiently for Sweet Peas πŸ«› to grow, then we eat a bajillion of them until their short season is done.

Once the plants flower, it takes roughly three weeks to produce a pea pod to maturity.

Mostly we eat β€˜em raw, but sometimes we:
πŸ«› sautΓ© with butter 🧈
πŸ«› add to fried rice
πŸ«› make risotto
πŸ«› make a cold pea salad

How excited are you for SWEET PEAS πŸ«› at the farm stand? Drop a πŸ’š in the comments!

Years ago, my mother looked on her shelf for the old red and white checked cookbook and came up empty. Naturally, she asked me if I knew where it might be.

Much to no one’s surprise, I did know exactly where it was.

It was in my kitchen.

This cookbook is older than I am, and yet some of the recipes are ones I rely on for success every time. These are tried and true classics that everyone can make.

This sponge shortcake is exactly that type of recipe.

I split the cake in half horizontally to make two layers, but you can simply cut it into squares, put a square in a bowl, and top it with strawberries, ice cream, and homemade whipped cream.

The important thing is not being fussy about it. Start with the best ingredients, homemade if you can, and you will create a memorable dessert.

Trust me… Everyone will be asking for another invitation!!

Here at Bialas Farms, we grow ever-bearing strawberries. That means they produce fruit on a cycle throughout the summer until a frost.

If I advertise that we have strawberries, get out to the farm. These berries are not to be missed.

Drop-in sales at the farmstand today until seven.
