Apple picking looks a little different this year!
As many of you know, our orchard, like many in this area, was hit hard by a freeze in late April which took out most of our crops, including a major portion of our apples.

We know how much our community looks forward to apple picking each fall, and we’re doing our best to make sure this tradition can still be enjoyed this year.

There are very few apples in our orchard, and at most times there will not be any apples to pick from the trees. We are sourcing apples from New York orchards to stock our Market and will have bins of apples in the orchard rows as a substitute. While we won’t have as many varieties as we typically would, we are fortunate to be able to work directly with farms to obtain apples whose crunch and sweetness are just like our own!

The wagon will be running on weekends and we will of course have C***r Donuts, C***r Ice, and C***r along with our other products! Please note apple picking reservations will still be required on Saturdays and Sundays in September and October. No reservations are required for Thursday or Friday or if only planning to visit our Market.

Additionally, we have a few new activities to look forward to! These include craft Sundays with Twyl Trolley and story time with the NHS Library, an Apple Scavenger Hunt, and a new Pumpkin Patch!

It is still blueberry season at Solebury Orchards! The picking is still plentiful but the season will be winding down in the next weeks. There are also blackberries available to pick and abundant flowers in the cutting garden!
In the Market we have blueberries, peaches we have sourced from other farms (next week from New York!), pears, tomatoes, corn, and many vegetables!

It’s once again that time of year! However, this season will be a little different…
Some of you may recall extra warm days in March and April followed by a sudden freeze on the night of April 21st. Because many of our fruit trees were already in full bloom, the prolonged freezing temperatures (down to 23º!) were detrimental to many of our crops. This damage is widespread across Eastern PA and much of New Jersey, and most fruit farms in our region are facing similar losses.

What does this mean for the orchard this season?

🍑🍒🍐Unfortunately, we will have no crop of Peaches, Cherries, Pears, or Plums this year.
🍎The Apples also took a severe hit, leaving only a small crop on select varieties.
🫐Blueberry supply may be limited for our first week, but the crop is looking promising and we expect good picking conditions throughout July.
💐The Flower Garden (planted in May, so well after the freeze), should be as beautiful as ever!

Though we typically only sell the fruit that we grow ourselves, we will do our best to procure high-quality fruit from orchards outside our region to keep our Market stocked and maintain some normalcy in our operations (after all, what would fall be without apples and apple c***r?). We have also planted some vegetables and pumpkins and we do have a few surprises planned for the season, so stay tuned!

Farming can be unpredictable, and this is a reminder of just how dependent we are on the weather and conditions outside our control. Despite these losses we are looking forward to the season ahead and have been caring for our orchards so they can come back strong and healthy next year.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding, patience, and support as we navigate a challenging year, and are most grateful for the encouragement and loyalty shown by our customers. We look forward to welcoming everyone back and will continue to provide updates as the season progresses.

Reopening June 20th 🍒☀️

That time of year is upon us again…our Market and Pick-Your-Own fields open tomorrow, June 20th with cherries and blueberries!

Both sweet and sour cherries are available, while they have enjoyed a good crop this year, they do tend to be very popular and may run out by the end of the weekend.

The first blueberries are also ripening this week and will become more abundant as we move into July.

We of course have our regular favorites in the Market (apple sauce, frozen c***r and c***r ice, c***r donuts), as well as some of the first summer vegetables from !

Our hours are Thursday through Sunday from 9 to 6. Visit our website for more information and current availability. We are excited for another season!

October may be coming to an end, but there are still lots of apples on the trees! Apple picking will continue for the next few weeks as long as the weather stays warm enough. This will be the last weekend during which reservations are required, they will not be needed in November.

This week we have many varieties for Pick-Your-Own, including Keepsake, Fuji, Salida del Sol, Stayman W**esap, Sun Crisp, W**e Crisp, Melrose, Florina, Sun Dance, Gold Rush, and Pink Lady.

In the Market we have Honeycrisp, Keepsake, Pixie Crunch, Pink Lady, and Topaz. We are still making lots of Donuts and C***r so don’t forget those either!

Labor Day has passed…yet Peach season is still going strong! 🍑 We expect to have Peaches in our Market through mid to late September. Also in the Market this week are Honeycrisp, Gala, and Sansa Apples, Harrow Delight Pears, Plums, and the last of the Blueberries.

Apple season has also begun and this week we are picking the Honeycrisp variety! The season will continue into early November with over 20 different varieties along the way. A reservation is required for Apple Picking on weekends and can be made on our website. Reservation slots for each upcoming weekend open Sundays at 6pm and do not tend to fill up until late in the week. No reservation is required Thursday or Friday.

It’s hard to believe it’s already opening weekend! Starting next week we will resume our regular in-season hours and will be open Thursday–Sunday from 9 to 6. ⏳

Cherry picking will end later today, most of the cherries left are in the tops of trees. There are however plenty of blueberries ripe for picking in the fields. Blueberry season will continue into July and August, with an expected peak in early to mid July with many varieties ripening at once.

For those shopping in the Market, we have lots of blueberries and sweet cherries along with other staple favorites.
Peaches will be starting in the next few weeks but will not be plentiful until mid-to-late July.

We are looking forward to lots of tasty fruit this season! 🍒🫐🍑🍐🍎

In the Market we have Keepsake, Fuji, and Goldrush apples! Other varieties are available upon request including Pink Lady, Salida del Sol, Braeburn, and Granny Smith.

Through December we are open Thursday to Sunday from 9 to 5. Starting in January, our hours switch to Saturdays only, 9 to 5!
We will at 3pm on the 24th and 31st and be closed on Christmas and New Years Day.

In addition to the apples, we of course have fresh C***r and C***r Donuts, Apple Chips, and favorite jarred items.

Update: all the apples have been picked!
What a warm November weekend we are enjoying! There are very few apples left on the trees, picking will continue this weekend while supplies last with no reservations required. Typically, the season will extend a week or two into November, but this year has seen a light crop on many varieties. There are however lots of apples in the Market; we have Keepsake, Pink Lady, Suncrisp, and Fuji varieties!

The days are getting shorter and our hours are now 9–5! We will remain open Thursday through Sunday in November and December, then switch to Saturdays only in the New Year.

The leaves are showing their colors as we near the end of October.
Reservations are full for Sunday, October 23rd but we still have two more weeks of Apple Picking! Today we move into Keepsake, Pink Lady, and Salida del Sol and next week we will add Goldrush to the mix!
Reservations are only required through October and will not be needed for the November weekend. Please note the final weekend may have limited picking depending on supply.

For apple varieties in the Market we have Keepsake (the parent apple of the Honeycrisp!), Pixie Crunch, Stayman W**esap, Pink Lady, and Suncrisp! Bosc pears are available, as are favorite c***r and apple products (let’s not forget the donuts!). Happy Sunday!
