Saw the poppy’s opened up today. A great reminder to those who sacrificed their lives to protect this beautiful country. Grandma planted these poppy’s many years ago in memory of those who did not make it home during WWII. Thank you for your service. 🫡 🇺🇸

It's that time of year again where farmers are out and about getting to their fields and that usually means being on the road.

Thank you all for the kind words after we lost JB - he was one of a kind! He is missed every day - from his epic crowing to his "chats", very weird dinosaur sounds and his ability to stalk us and just show up wherever we may be - he made an indelible impact on us and quickly became friends with everyone, even our UPS driver. It was amazing how people would just go "Hey JB" as if they were best buds every time they met. Shep chased that fox the next time it showed up and we haven't seen it since. Poor Shep lost his best friend the bunny who was 10 years old (to old age), and now his bird friend to fox and he ain't having it! He found a really big stick.....what does he have up his sleeve?? Game on, Fox!

Today is a sad day. After coming home from the Fleischmanns street fair, something felt off. We called for JB and there was no response. He usually comes at the car to greet us but he never showed. We looked around and found a pile of feathers by the bridge. A fox has killed and taken JB. We know it was a fox because we encounter it a few times before.
JB (Jonny Bravo) was no ordinary rooster. He came from tractor supply in 2023. Seeing that chick was big thinking no one picked it. Thinking it was a hen, soon began to crow. More like a murderous scream from a horror movie. He couldn’t stay away from the girls but the girls had no interest in him. Therefore his name became Johnny Bravo from the 90s cartoon show. JB for short.
JB stayed in the house in his box at night and walked around on the porch in the day.
Soon he decided to follow around and found fun stuff to do. He loved going on his morning jogs to the calf barn, have some snacks, grab a beak full of milk from a calf bucket, dust bowl the fresh pile of sawdust, have his morning, 2pm, 5pm and 6pm “fights” with his opponent Charlie through the fence, helped with the chores including putting the cows in. He yelled when someone called his name and would come running over.
He was no ordinary bird. He thought he was a cow dog, enjoyed chasing cats and stalked around the corner of the house ready to pounce on someone for a “boo!”.
He will be missed and will miss him slapping his feet across the porch.
RIP JB. 2023-2026
