So today brings our growing season to an end with the harvesting of our broccoli. This year’s crop was exceptional with 18 healthy plants. As is the tradition Annabelle was helping, this year she was also busy showing Benny how to do things. Also this year as an 8-year old she was learning how to do the cutting. Grateful for another great year in the garden.

On Thursday of last week before the rains we received one of our young associates and my farm partner were hard at working picking the sugar snaps. You can see our youngest associates equipment he uses in the garden in the foreground.

Today was a busy day at Big Dog Farms. We were able to get in the late potatoes. As well as some peas and carrots. Our young associates were a big help as usual, planting 150’ of potatoes & 75’ of carrots with minimal adult supervision. I was very proud of there hard work. Now we are ready for the rain that is forecasted for this week

Busy day here at Big Dog Farms. We finally had a chance to get some early planting done. We managed to get 200’ of Sugar Peas planted along with 12 Broccoli & 12 Cauliflower plants in the ground. All of the trellis fence along with the varmit fence was installed as well. As usual our two young Associates were participating. It was a long day but very productive. It’s great to be starting another growing season.

It’s that time of year! Starting to get the garden ready for another season of home grown fruits and veggies!

One of the last crops to come out of the garden, potatoes. This about 30lbs of red potatoes, we still have about 25 feet of a row to dig. Then onto the white and yellow variety. Despite the dry conditions, it was a good year for potatoes.
