We are saddened to say our gentle giant, our sweet and loving guard dog, our Muta has passed away at 8 years old. Muta put a smile on so many faces that visited the farm and saved countless chicken lives during his active years here. For all that don’t know, Muta means “big and ferocious” in Kanji. Joe named him after a big white cat from a cartoon we watched as kids. Although he was big, he was anything but ferocious with other farm animals and farm visitors, big and small. He put up with multiple new playful puppies, hundreds and hundreds of newborn chicks, and many toddlers who tried to ride him like a horse. There’s no replacing such a beautiful soul here. Our hearts are broken 💔 Muta has been buried at the top of the barn pasture, so he can continue to watch over his flock and us as well. We’ll miss you Muta. 🤍
