We got our hands on some Dolcita hops and boy was this a fun one!
Pollen is an American Pale Ale that showcases a single hop and this version features Dolcita. It has notes of Bright Citrus, Ripe Stonefruit, Tropical Smoothie, and even Creamy Vanilla undertones.

We use a lot of Citra hops. And I'm always in close touch with our Yakima Chief Hops reps for lot selection whether it's what we contract or what we procure on spot once we use everything we've contracted. They're great about providing selection opportunities, samples, sensory data, and information about the farm and season/harvest of every lot.

While we use a lot of Citra, we don't often use it by itself in a neutral, single American India Pale Ale. Eft a great showcase of the care and effort we put into not only our ingredients selection, but our Brewing process.

Eft is not only a cute lil’ Newt with toxic skin (don’t eat one), but it’s also the name of our rotating hop IPA series. Consistent whirlpool hops paired with Citra followed by a sizeable dry hop with exclusively Citra. Big citrus notes of orange candy, mango, papaya, and grapefruit.

We have a fresh batch of Lily of The Valley... this one packed with Tropical Fruit! Our signature wheated Berliner style base b**r with vanilla and lactose features mango, passionfruit, guava, tangerine, and pineapple. This may be our most aromatic Lily to date, with flavors bursting of mixed tropical fruit juice.

We have a fresh batch of Mycelium Dream on tap and in cans to go. Our Mushroom Pale is a 6% hazy hoppy treat brewed with Lion's Mane and Maitake Mushrooms from Seacoast Mushrooms in Mystic, CT. We paired these flavors with Simcoe, Mosaic, and Motueka hops (Citrus, Pine, Mango, Berries). Lion's Mane are sweet and savory while Maitake mushrooms are earthy and spicy. Do they enhance cognitive function? Who knows. But they sure are delicious.

Our Märzen style Oktoberfest B**r is already running low. We anticipate that it might run out this weekend on tap. Cans might last a little longer. Märzen style l***r. Brewed in early summer with a single decoction mash, a complex profile of traditional malt, noble hops, and our favorite German l***r yeast. It then endures at least two months of cold rest. The result is a naturally clear, full-bodied, but sessionable b**r with subtly sweet flavors of toasted bread and biscuit.
Have you gotten your ticket to our Oktoberfest party on Saturday? You get your commemorative boot, a soft pretzel, access to purchase special pours, and many more activities! It was a privilege to spend time with these gentlemen examining Benedict Arnold the man and the general. What motivated him? What were his orders? Was he simply doing his job, or was it more?

Steven Manuel is Executive Director of the New London County Historical Society. He showed us around the Shaw Mansion, told us about Nathaniel Shaw Jr. and New London’s illustrious, lucrative privateering industry, and gave us a deep look at Benedict Arnold as a human being, from his upbringing through his decision to join the British Army. He even took us into the vault to see letters written by George Washington, a sword owned by Benedict Arnold, and Colonel Ledyard’s actual tooth. It’s hard to believe all of this is right at the end of Bank Street. Check out New London County Historical Society!

Matthew E. Reardon is a Connecticut historian and author of The Traitor’s Homecoming: Benedict Arnold’s Raid on New London, Connecticut, September 4-13, 1781. We talked about the raid, Arnold’s orders and motives, and what was happening on both sides of the Thames. Arnold knew people in town and even met with friends while gathering intelligence and commanding his troops. Matthew also told us about the fight for a local tavern, and a British soldier pulled from the lines because he was too drunk to fight! Tox wasn’t open yet… and we don’t over-serve. His research uses original military records, eyewitness accounts, British and Hessian sources, casualty records, and more to reconstruct what really happened that day.

These gentlemen were incredibly generous with their time and gave us so much fascinating content, far more than we could fit into a social-media-length video. I hope to put together a longer bonus video for YouTube featuring some of what we couldn’t use.
