This blabbering means one thing…it’s breeding season, folks! We added marking harnesses to both bucks to help pin point a breeding date, therefore determining a due date for the expected kids!

Shiawassee Co Fair 2026

🐐The Pygmys: Dolly won Grand Champion in her class and Bailey won reserve grand champion.
🐄The Steers: Carter won reserve grand champion home grown as well as reserve champion lightweight.

A little farm update because life has been life-ing and we’ve been BUSY! Since we posted last, our final two calves were born, we weaned and begun halter breaking calves, we’ve baled hay in hot weather, baled and unloaded straw in even hotter weather and brought home 3 new doe Pygmy goats. The kids have been working with their steers and heifers for the fair for this year and the steer calves for next year are being handled as well!

We recently welcomed 4 new calves to the farm! Niner and Betsy both had bull calves while Lizzy and Doris had heifers!

Want to raise strong kids?

Put them in the barn.

Let them wake up before the sun.

Let them feed before they feed themselves.

Let them learn that animals don’t care if you're tired, busy, or had a bad day.

The barn will teach them responsibility.

It will teach them patience.

It will teach them grit.

They’ll experience the excitement of show day…

And the heartbreak that sometimes comes with it.

But through it all, something powerful happens.

Confidence grows.

Character is built.

Work ethic becomes part of who they are.

One day you’ll look at the adults they’ve become and realize something…

The barn didn’t just raise animals.

It helped raise your kids. 🐄

It was hard to settle on a name, but because of her ear muffs we thought she looked like Minnie Mouse. So, we decided on the name: Mouse!
Mouse is without her ear muffs and coat! Her and Sarah are back with the rest of the herd!
