For our neighbors in need.
SNAP and Double Up Program Updates:
Due to the government shutdown, the USDA has notified the State of Tennessee that new SNAP (food stamp) benefits will not be distributed starting November 1. For EBT/SNAP customers using SNAP benefits at farmers markets in East Tennessee:
π’ SNAP and Double Up tokens do not expire. Participating locations can still accept tokens during the shutdown.
π’ Double Up tokens earned can be spent at any participating location https://doubleuptn.org/
π’ Unused SNAP benefits on customers' EBT cards from October can still be used beyond November 1.
π’ Effective immediately, Nourish Knoxville is raising the $20 doubling cap for SNAP used at the Market Square Farmers Market to $25, and doubling 1:2 instead of 1:1. Any SNAP benefits spent at the Market Square Farmers Market will now be tripled - spend $25, receive $50 in tokens for fresh produce.
We are closely monitoring the effects of the government shutdown on our customers, small farmers, and businesses, and will continue to work to respond to changing community needs and help families keep putting fresh fruits and vegetables on the table.
This project is funded under a grant contract with the State of Tennessee, Tennessee Department of Health's Project Diabetes program.
