Last week, one of our Sales Associates, Amber, and I had the joy of hosting a lovely little event at Butterbrook Apartments, a senior housing community here in New Milford. As Amber shared the benefits of a nourishing skin care routine, I poured cups of hot tea, using loose leaf tea from our shop. We sipped and savored every precious moment along with the attendees.
While reflecting back on our time together, I am reminded that this little shop of ours has been rewarding in ways that numbers can't reflect.
For me, one of the most gratifying rewards in this journey has been connection, and in this case, reconnection.
You see, about 10 years ago, before Steve and I became business owners, we gathered, with our younger children, in this very community room with other young families and with Butterbrook residents. Over the years we served Thanksgiving meals. We sang Christmas carols. We made valentines together. So many wonderful times and opportunities were shared in this space.
When I was invited back to Butterbrook a couple of years ago to host our first tea party as the owner of a downtown business, it felt less like work and more like gathering with sweet friends. It was an opportunity to showcase our tea offerings, but that's not what it meant, deep down, to me. With each cup of tea I poured, I felt something being poured back into my soul.
Connection, reconnection, community. I am so grateful for this little shop on Main Street that grants me such moments.
