We love this place. Country music, incredible vibe, and a chef who knows what he's doing. The Hyde-Away has our whole heart.
The margarita? That's a different story.

Sweet flavored tequila. Sweet sour mix. Sweet on top of sweet on top of sweet. Bourbon was feeling generous with this review — he's already planning his return visit specifically to instruct the bartender on how to make a much better one. That's just who he is.
Tequila's review was shorter: "Yuk."

Here's the thing — cheap tequila isn't the crime. Trying to hide it under a flood of sour mix? That's where we draw the line. Let the tequila be what it is, or use a better one. Simple.

We'll be back for the food, the music, and the people. The margarita has room to grow.

Great bar. Great crowd. Great energy.

Terrible margarita.

It tasted like a Sprite with ambitions. Sweet and fizzy with all the personality of a gas station soda. The tequila was allegedly in there somewhere. We never found it.

The crowd was great. The drink was not. Lake Placid deserves better margaritas than this.

Okay fine, there's more. The house tequila choice was exactly right, the vibe was the kind of place that makes Bourbon tell his best jokes, and somewhere between the first sip and the second glass he made The Noise.

You know The Noise. The one that means we're not leaving yet.

Barrel & Brew earned it. Every bit of it.

New Milford, you've been holding out on us.

The glass arrived and we thought — okay, we might be in business. Pretty presentation, promising start. Then we took a sip...ugh.

Heartburn city.

The tequila was either hiding or never showed up — honestly at this point we're not sure it was even invited. Three ingredients, people. Tequila, lime, triple sec. It is not complicated.

Sparta, you deserve better. So do we.
