Summer has been flying by at Grow Dat, and we are reminiscing about the last day we spent on the farm together, Program Graduation Day! Each year, we celebrate the incredible work of our young leaders by inviting friends and family to share in presentations, fun, and, of course, a delicious lunch. Learning and growing are at the core of our mission, and days like this, where our community can join in, are the best kind of days on the farm.

If learning and growing alongside 40+ diverse youth excites you, or could be a great fit for a young person you know, we are hiring for the upcoming program year! Learn more and apply now on our website, or with the link in our bio!

One of our favorite annual activities here at Grow Dat is our summer trip to Pearl River Blues Blueberry Farm in Lumberton, Mississippi. We made it just in time to pick the last berries of the season, filling our berry buckets and filling our cups, hearing from our friends Amy and Cirillo about the power of connection that comes from growing together.

Farm pics for your Friday feed! We may be on a short program break before we start back for summer fun, but life is bustling around the farm. Our meadow is full of vibrant blooms, our fields abundant with late spring and summer veggies, and we have had some ducks and kittens visiting us! At Grow Dat, we are a farm without fences, and our location in the park makes this a true community space. If you are out and about this weekend, take a walk around our farm and see for yourself all the beauty born from the hard work of our young leaders.

Something we've been really proud of on the farm is the growth of our native meadow (you may have noticed from all our posting, or been introduced to its magic at the farm dinner scavenger hunt)!! Our crews, interns, staff, and volunteers have worked hard to rewild this beautiful space on the farm, first clearing out the invasive weeds and then planting seeds of indigenous species in their place. This is just the first of multiple projects Grow Dat has dreamed up in the hopes of increasing land diversity and climate resiliency both on our farm and across the city. If you are interested in supporting more of this work, support Grow Dat's young leaders this GiveNOLA Day, early giving starts Tuesday, April 28th!!
