I am the third owner of this land since 1890. Then Hurricane Rita came ashore.

My grandfather bought it in 1944, the year I was born. In 1997, I moved to the farm and began producing all-natural fig preserves, selling them at the Saturday Crescent City Farmer's Market. For 22 hours, our orchard was hit with salt rain. From that point forward, I was able to produce only enough figs to supply Deanies Restaurant, for their signature salad dressing. ng to thrive, I have begun developing the raw sugar portion of the business. Our FDA approved kitchen is now exclusively used to scrub raw sugar. After harvest, the cut cane is hauled to the grinding mill. I take part of my share in raw sugar, directly from the mill. I scrub the sugar and sell it in 5 gallon buckets, half gallon bottles and quart bottles. I supply raw sugar to several of NOLA's better known restaurants and co-ops. My next project will be producing raw simple syrup, for use in cocktails, and pure raw cane syrup.
