A tip on Hurricane preparedness and water- the old school and GREEN way.
We have seen so many posts from friends along the coast these past few seasons about bottled water shortages. People don’t know what to do without bottled water. This is how you do it:
-Clean and fill your bathtub with water. This can be used to bathe or to drink. Do the same with all of your sinks.
***Not having water is a life or death emergency.***
Please, please use the *almost free* water from your home in the event you can’t find bottled water.
You may not like drinking tap water- but you must use the resources available to you when preparing for an emergency, and there are ways to clean tap water.
Fill all of your cups, containers, pots, etc. in your house with water. You can boil water too, or buy a Brita or Pur filter pitcher. These filters produce, in most cases, better quality and cleaner water on demand. You can get a Pur pitcher for $10- $30, and it’s reusable!!
Did you know that most bottled water is just municipal tap water, or worse, pre packaged? How much have you paid for bottled water? Have you fought crowds in stores for water in an emergency just to find them out or short? There’s no need to fret about water shortages with so many other things to prepare for during a storm.
Preparing your emergency water supply this way is less stressful, cost way less money, is better for the environment, and it’s SMARTER. Stay safe and hydrated!
