I found this New Palestine High School Crimson Messenger from December 1955 in my dad's (Harry Gundrum) collection of "stuff". It belonged to my uncle David Gundrum. Talk about a blast from the past! I especially appreciated the last page "Alumni News 1904-1913". My grandfather (Luther Gundrum) also graduated from NPHS in 1923.

We moved our Pioneer Broiler meat birds from the brooder to mobile chicken coops. At just 24 days old, they have almost tripled in size! In the mobile coop, they are in the fresh air and sunshine. The coops are moved once a day so they have access to a fresh grass-bar. We do supplement with non-GMO feed. They will stay in the mobile coops until they are processed right here on our farm in mid-late May.

Some people wonder why we started raising our own food- and there are too many reasons to list (some even think it's cruel). But to anyone who is interested, I would encourage you to simply Google "pasture raised chicken vs conventional chicken". Do your own research and you'll quickly learn about the nutritional differences between the two.

Since reading "Folks This Ain't Normal" by Joel Salatin and "A Bold Return to Giving a Damn" by Will Harris, knowing where my food comes from has gone from just reading & learning to finally doing! Transitioning from row crops (using all kinds of chemicals) to planting green pasture and regenerating our soil (without chemicals) became our mission. This is good for our animals, good for us and good for our little slice of land on this planet. 🌎 We started with just wanting to grow our own food to now wanting to share this with our neighbors. We raise poultry on pasture and supplement with non-GMO feed. Our chickens are happy, healthy and treated humanely.

This change is not a quick one!! Our hope is that as each year passes, the land gets healthier and more sustainable. Sunlight gives life to forage which gives life to animals which gives life to all of us. It's amazing how simple yet complex this is at the same time!

Our mission is to raise quality poultry and eggs- the natural way- from our pasture to your plate. 🌟🌱🐓🌿💚 🥚
