Evolutionary Organics Certified Naturally Grown

Since 2003, Kira Kinney has used Evolutionary Organics to make Certified Naturally Grown produce in her part of the Hudson River Valley's New Paltz, NY. About 80 miles north of New York City, she farms a little over 20 acres of many heirloom vegetables, baby greens, herbs and pasture raised eggs; selling them at the weekly GrowNYC farmer's market in Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn.

HEY BROOKLYN!!!! I’m coming but late, like maybe 9am late. Please do delay your market shopping until I can get there as I really really need you, and some tequila after all of this. Tequila never hurts. The universe is big on hating me this week, because I’m all into taking things personally right now. An FYI: part of the farm flooded out from Ida, and now, on my way to market, I have blown out both tires on the back passenger side of the truck I finally got back from the shop this week. Here I sit waiting for my mechanics to haul ass here from New Paltz, as no other thruway repair service seems willing to arrive, answer a call, call back, blah blah.

HEYYYYY!!! Today is the day I start pepper seeds in the greenhouse that will turn into the pepper plants I bring to market for you all to plant in your gardens. Any specific requests? If I have the seeds, which I have nearly 100 varieties of them, I will make sure to include your wants in the starts this week.

February 13th we won’t be at market due to the temperatures being inhospitable to the well being of the vegetables. I really can’t wait for winter to move along out of here.

I am afraid the forecast says the vegetables can not go to market tomorrow, January 30th. I did a little test, brought some out of the cooler, put them in the sun in my barn, away from the wind, and 5 minutes later--- Frozen vegetables. The farm has been a busy place and two greenhouses are nearly full of stuff. I need to wait a few more weeks before starting the heat in the third as it is a poor heating system that costs WAY too much to heat when it is honestly cold out, and right now it is honestly cold out. Should return next week, so get your refrigerator vegetable drawers ready.

Brooklyn, I will not be at market tomorrow. Sorry to miss you all and hope your holidays are very happy and safe. I intend to be there on the 26th, so hope for a little warmer temps and no more giant snowstorms while my plow tractor is in the shop. I have spent 4 1/2 hours shoveling today after 2 1/2 yesterday and am frankly ready for winter to move it on out of here already!!
