This tiny jellyfish can do something extraordinary: it can seemingly turn back time. 🪼⏳

Known as Turritopsis dohrnii, often called the “immortal jellyfish,” it has a survival ability unlike almost any other creature on Earth.

When injured, starving, or exposed to stressful conditions, the adult jellyfish can reverse its life cycle. Instead of dying, it transforms into a cyst-like state and reverts to its youthful polyp stage, allowing new jellyfish to develop all over again.

Scientists are studying this remarkable process to better understand cellular reprogramming, regeneration, and the biology of ageing.

Despite its nickname, it is not truly immortal. Predators, diseases, and severe injuries can still end its life.

Nature never ceases to amaze—sometimes, life doesn’t move in just one direction. 🙌🏻
