It’s that time of year again! With the warm weather comes our annual post apologizing for our lack of social media posting and promising we will do more this year 😂 let’s be real, we are way too distracted with life to post more. But we are very excited about the start of maple syrup season!

Per usual, we’ve been way too busy to post much. But we’ve got some exciting news! We’ve partnered with River Feeds in New Richmond to sell our eggs in their store. They have always been great to us as our primary source of high quality feed for our chickens. Check em out, and if you need eggs, you can find ours in their store.

For those that send us a message regularly for more eggs, you are more than welcome to keep doing that. Hit us up and we will get you eggs!

The past 2 years and growing seasons have been abnormally dry and were challenging to keep our gardens growing strong. This year has been a very pleasant change to a much more wet weather pattern. And we would never criticize Mother Nature….however….after the past few weeks of more than enough rain, this is pretty much how we feel:

Side note: we have been very fortunate. While we have had more than enough rain and are generally sick of the mud and the muck, there are many other areas throughout the Midwest and Plains states that have had much more rain and suffered far more damage because of the rain. Our hearts go out everyone and we hope there is more sun in our future.

The meat birds have been moved out to pasture! These specially bred hybrid birds grow at a faster rate than regular chickens. This also means they eat an incredible amount of food. To help keep them healthier and lower feed costs, we let them graze our oat pasture.

They also help us with another important task. Once they’ve stomped down all the oat grass in an area, they will move on to the next and we will plant more of our garden behind them. The stomped down oats will act as a w**d barrier so we don’t have to spend as much time w**ding throughout the summer.
