Well, we have settled in nicely to the Midwest Fall National!

So well, in fact, that we have some exciting results to share!

🥇 1st Place Winter Calf — Open & Junior / Best Bred & Owned

Superstar has called Nova home since day one, and we are so thankful that the Utechts have trusted us with her development this far! Watching her grow and seeing all of their hard work come together in the show ring has been so special.

Kolton & Superstar have had a fantastic year so far! Congratulations to you both on an incredible accomplishment! We are so proud to have played a small part in Superstar’s journey and can’t wait to see what the rest of her future holds!

Koos — today we celebrate you and the true handyman that you are! Someone who makes sure every job gets done right the first time, with an incredible attention to detail and always the patience to lend a helping hand. We appreciate you today and every day, and we truly cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for us! We are so lucky to have you on our team!

Erin — happiest of birthdays to the dogs’ favorite human! We appreciate you and your willingness to jump in and help whenever needed. From keeping everything organized and making sure we never forget a thing when we head to a show, to keeping your two boys out of trouble, you always seem to keep everything running smoothly! We hope the boys spoil you and celebrate you BIG today — you deserve it!

Happy birthday to the one and only Ryan Kamm!

Celebrating you and all that you do is so easy! We are beyond thankful for your hard work, dedication, and never-ending commitment to Nova. We truly wouldn’t be where we are today without everything you pour into this farm and our family.

Thank you for your words of wisdom, your kindness, your willingness to always lend a helping hand, and of course, LOTS of sarcasm.

What a coincidence. Today I went through to pull registration papers for the springers that are due to calve next week…well, Dolly Parton would be one of them.

All of us here at Nova are mourning the loss of Dolly. She was someone who reminded us that it’s okay to be different, to be unapologetically yourself, and to always lead with kindness.

Dolly inspired generations with her individuality, her acceptance of others, and her incredible ability to make people feel seen, valued, and welcome. She showed us that you don’t have to change who you are to make a difference in the world.

We’ll be thinking of her a little extra this week as we wait for our own Dolly Parton to calve. What a beautiful coincidence, and an even more beautiful reminder of the legacy Dolly leaves behind. 🤍

One of our favorite quotes from Dolly:

“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”

Selfishly, I think most of us around here would be okay if she sent us some rain…

The St. Croix County Fair was a true success, not only for the kids who exhibit cattle from Nova, but for the Baldwin Wide Awake 4-H club!

Although this may be a smaller show, we truly believe it is one of the most competitive county fairs around!

We are extremely proud of each of the kids that exhibited this year! They put so much effort and care into each of their animals. It brings us so much joy to watch each of them form a bond with their heifers and cows!
