Olé & Obrigado

Olé & Obrigado U.S. importer of fine wines from Spain and Portugal and direct distributor in NY, NJ and PA. Olé Imports began in 1999 with just 3 wines.

Our unique portfolio of Spanish wines has now grown to over 100 wines today. My dear friend and partner Alberto Orte and I have searched the Spanish peninsula for wines that share four fundamental elements: terroir, quality fruit, exceptional winemaking and last but not least, wines that present an exceptional value.

Happy International Sherry Week from all of us at Olé & Obrigado! As the weather cools, we crave wines with depth and character, and few fit the season better than Sherry.

Bodegas Poniente, founded by Alberto Orte, is a masterful blend of precious soleras (many over 30 years old) refreshed with wines from organically farmed Palomino grown in Jerez Superior’s famed Pago Añina. Named for the cooling Atlantic poniente winds, this sustainable project captures the soul of Andalusia’s chalky hillsides. Enjoy them lightly chilled with food or gift them, as they remain fresh for up to a year after opening.

If you haven’t already, we highly recommend watching Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain, Episode 2, where winemaker Alberto Orte welcomes Eva to Jerez and guides her through the craft of Sherry, explaining the region’s unique terroir, solera system, and Atlantic influence with Chef Juanlu Fernández.

🍷 Portugal’s wines continue to shine in the spotlight!

We’re honored to be featured in SevenFifty Daily’s latest article, “How Portugal Is Shaking Its Inexpensive Wine Reputation.” Our co-founder, Patrick Mata, shares insights on how the U.S. market is embracing the depth, diversity, and exceptional quality of Portuguese wines.

“For years, Portugal was seen as a value-driven category, but that perception is evolving. More consumers and sommeliers are recognizing the country’s world-class wines, from elegant whites to age-worthy reds,” says Patrick Mata.

As appreciation for Portugal’s wine heritage grows, we’re excited to continue bringing these remarkable bottles to wine lovers everywhere.
