We traveled up to VFW Post 9662 - Boline Manfredi today to compete in the Red, White and Que competition raising money for their local VFW. We have done this competition for many years now and we love it because we can just relax and do something different for a chance. Their specialty category was potatoes so we tried to get creative and made potato volcanoes.
Out of 18 teams we finished….
9th place potato
5th place chicken
1st place ribs
Grand Champion of the competition

Thanks to the VFW for their hospitality as always and to Nic Simpson for his assist again today!

And thank you to Graphix Masters for the updated shirts for our crew!!

We decided to run up to the Des Moines area today for the Beaverdale Fall Festival. They held their 1st backyard bbq contest. They did a great job for their first year!
We finished
2nd 🥈 Chicken
2nd 🥈 Ribs
Reserve Grand Champion

Congratulations to Smokey Bros Barbecue on their GC!!

It was fun being neighbors once again with Savory Smoke Bbq team! Congrats on their call today too.

Also appreciate Nic Simpson for his help today and keeping us in line!

See you October 10th at the Des Moines VFW!

It was a fun week being back in the saddle again at Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition & Benefit in Lynnville. Didn’t realize how much we missed competing.
Out of 18 teams we finished
4th place Chicken
8th place Ribs
5th place Pork
17th place Brisket
8th place Overall

The brisket got away from us and was not good. I thought the judges were generous not calling the authorities and having us locked up. 🤪

Congrats to Smokey Bros BBQ on their GC and Bucknutz BBQ on their RGC!

Thanks to the Smoke on the Water committee for putting on a fun competition that supports a deserving family every year!

Next up….our yearly trip to Des Moines for the VFW comp!

This weekend we are coming out of retirement……well, no actually we’ve just been lazy and haven’t done any comps this year. 🤪
We will be at Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition & Benefit this Saturday at Old Setts Park in Lynnville. Cmon out, hang with us and have some good bbq for a great cause!!
As always, we will do our best not to finish last!!
