🎉 ONE YEAR OF COMFORT KITCHEN! 🎉
One year ago, I started this adventure thinking I was opening a food trailer. 😂 What I actually did was sign myself up for about 27 different jobs!
In one year, I've been the owner, chef, prep cook, cashier, promoter, shopper, dishwasher, cleaner, driver, loader, unloader, event coordinator, marketing department, social media manager, photographer, recruiter, scheduler, customer service department, repair coordinator and professional problem solver. 🤣
I've spent hours creating posts and marketing a brand-new business, trying to get our name out there and convince people to give this little turquoise trailer a try. Then I'd go shopping, prep for hours, load everything up, drive to the event, set up, cook, take orders, serve customers, clean everything, pack it all back up, drive home...and wake up to do it again.
I've cooked in Florida heat that should probably be illegal. 🥵😂 I've hired, trained, learned to ask for help and learned that finding the right people is essential if any company wants to be successful!
I've dealt with equipment failures, last-minute changes and problems I never even knew existed until I owned a food trailer. And apparently I've added generator expert to my résumé. 🤦♀️🤣
There have been events where we sold out and couldn't cook fast enough...and events so slow I started wondering if I accidentally parked in a witness protection program. 😂 Those slow events hurt, but they taught me some of my most important business lessons—where to go, what works for us and, most importantly, when to say NO.
I've made mistakes. I've questioned myself. I've been exhausted, sweaty, frustrated and overwhelmed.
But I've also laughed—a LOT. I've met incredible people. I've watched customers become regulars and regulars become friends. I've had communities invite us back again and again. And I've had moments when I looked at that trailer and thought:
I DID THIS. ❤️ (with a lot of help from family of course)
I'm still learning. I'm still growing. I'm still figuring things out as I go. But that's what this first year has really been about.
And through ALL of it, the biggest thing I've learned is how incredibly supportive people can be.
To everyone who bought a meal, booked us, recommended us, shared our posts, left reviews, invited us back, waited patiently for fresh food, encouraged me or showed me grace when things went completely sideways...
THANK YOU. ❤️
You didn't just support a food trailer.
You helped build Comfort Kitchen.
Here's to YEAR TWO—bigger dreams, more adventures, more amazing food, fewer slow events and PLEASE... fewer generator problems! 🤣🙏
🎂 Happy 1st Birthday, Comfy!
What a crazy, exhausting, amazing ride. And we're just getting started. 💕
