It's 🐝💓🪻

This year's theme is "Bee inspired by nature to nourish us all." According to the United Nations, who first designated May 20 as World Bee Day in 2018, this theme "highlights the critical roles bees and other pollinators play in agrifood systems and the health of our planet's ecosystems. Indeed, pollinators are increasingly threatened by habitat loss, unsustainable agricultural practices, climate change and pollution. Their decline jeopardizes food production, increases costs and exacerbates food insecurity, particularly for rural communities."

MDC has created several pollinator-friendly gardens on our campus, and you can regularly spot bees and butterflies flitting from bloom to bloom -- such as this aptly named bee balm -- throughout the property. Stop by and have a look! You can even buy some local honey from S & S Apiaries in our gift shop while you're here 🍯

Sharing photos of the kitten, who we recently fostered through the Southeast Volusia Humane Society in New Smyrna Beach. She is available for adoption through the SEVHS and would be a wonderful companion :)

Stuffing is the spiciest, feisty little girl kitty around! Maybe it’s because she was found alone with no siblings or mama, but she loves humans and is the perfect mix of cuddly and playful. She is good with other cats, dogs and children, which she has been around in her foster home. She may hiss at them at first meeting to let them know she is fearless, but then she can’t help but want to follow and play with them—ambushing my elderly cats and eating my dog’s food.

She definitely makes life more lively and humorous! She is also a wonderful companion, who likes sitting and watching tv with you, following the movement on your computer or phone screen, or joining you for a nap. She is the definition of an utterly fearless and fun female who you can’t help but fall in love with!

It's kitten season again and our family is fostering this little girl through the SEV Humane Society! Flame is 8 weeks old and super sweet. Message if interested. The adoption would be through the SEV Humane Society and includes shots, spay, microchip.

To our valuable customers, we appreciate your business and support. Like most businesses, we tried our best to keep our prices down, but with gas prices and inflation, our costs of production have risen and we have had to slightly increase prices on some of our honey products.

Specifically, the Orange Blossom Honey, the Blueberry Honey, and the All-Year Wildflower Honey prices had to be increased a bit.

But we did not increase prices on the Black Mangrove Honey and the Spring Wildflower Honey, to keep it affordable for folks.

Also, as you know, we had one of the worst years on record for Orange Blossom Honey production--which occurred throughout the state of Florida--but we managed to get some from our groves and it is in a very limited amount. Due to the limited amount, it was also mixed with some wildflower honey, so the flavor may be slightly different.
