Today was harvesting roosters day. From the chickies we hatched this winter, we ended up with 8 roosters. These roosters were all at the perfect weight and today went extremely smooth. Some people ask - will you tell your kids when there eating the roosters? Absolutely. They get it. They understand it and understand the circle of life. In our house, we have normalized this and it really isn’t a big deal. Also, most importantly I would much rather my kids eat farm fresh chicken that we raised and processed ourselves compared to the store bought stuff.

We made a pumpkin patch this year for the kids to enjoy!!! There all starting to come to fruition!!

Right now it is the “going broke” season. We have many animals that are getting free room, board, and meals. People don’t realize this. Right now we are feeding 5 pigs and they aren’t producing anything jn return in the short term. Also we have 75 chickens and 3 ducks that are still growing that aren’t producing any eggs yet either. But it’s like the kids, it’s truly a pleasure to watch them grow!

I always get excited when the kids want to come do chores with me. Especially Joshua - being 7 years old, he’s becoming more and more of a help. Also we got to see a double rainbow which is always exciting!

This is so true!

This is so true!

Do you ask the cashier for a deal when you go to Walmart?

Do you ask the gas station to give you a deal on your fuel?

The ideology that farmers, ranchers, or homesteaders owe you a deal because you're buying 2 or more of (fill in the blank), is the greatest insult of all time.

Stop normalizing this behavior. 😤

Farmers, Ranchers, and homesteaders are due the same respect when it comes to the pricing of whatever it is they're selling.

I can't tell you how many times we personally experienced this when we farmed and it's the biggest insult ever. It isn't enough a farmer isn't paid fairly, the government taxes farmers to death, and twice on Tuesdays, and little Billy wants a deal.. 😡

Farmers, Ranchers, and homesteaders work tremendously hard, try working 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with zero vacations.
