Last night reminded us why we decided to extend our Friday hours. 🌅🍷

A special thank you to Tanis Hyder Fink, Larry, and their friends for choosing Golden Oak Micro Cellar as their sunset destination.

They came with one simple goal: slow down, enjoy the evening, watch the sunset, and share a bottle of wine with friends. Seeing their group gathered together as the sun went down was exactly the kind of Friday evening we hoped to create.

Sometimes the best memories are the simplest ones—good friends, beautiful views, and a glass of wine in hand.

Today, I looked outside at the sunshine — peaceful, warm, and quiet. Somehow, it felt exactly like a day 15 years ago.

Who would have believed our winemaking journey started with a book I bought, “Windows on the World Complete Wine Course” by Kevin Zraly?

Before I could finish it, my husband Alex had already read the whole book. When he closed it, he looked at me and said:

“I want to make wine.”

Honestly, I thought he was joking.

At that time, he was an electrical engineer, not a winemaker. But he immediately started his self-learning journey, reading countless books and studying everything he could about winemaking.

That summer, he bought his first Blanc du Bois grapes and made just 5 gallons of wine using tools from my kitchen.

When the wine was ready, I still remember the first sip — tropical floral aromas, fruity, fresh, and so alive. I had never tasted a wine that felt so personal.

I looked at him and said:
“You have talent for this. Let’s do it.”

Since then, our lifestyle has completely changed. Our journey has been filled with joy, hard work, sweat, learning, mistakes, and unforgettable memories.

For both of us as immigrants, this truly feels like an American dream.

Today, every bottle at Golden Oak Micro Cellar carries a little piece of that first dream.

Today’s sunset in New Waverly is at 8:11 PM, and the weather is simply too beautiful to close early… so we decided to extend our hours tonight at Golden Oak Micro Cellar!

Last night’s live music evening at Golden Oak Micro Cellar turned into one we won’t forget 🍷🎶🌧️

Even with the big Texas rain rolling through, so many wonderful people stayed, gathered together, enjoyed the music, shared wine, and made the evening feel warm and special.

Sometimes the unexpected weather makes the memories even better ❤️

A huge thank you to Drew Gros for the fantastic live performance and to everyone who came out and supported local music and our small winery during Memorial Day weekend.

And today looks beautiful sunshine again ☀️
