🍷 A Little Secret About Magnus

While Magnus is wonderful served traditionally, many guests are surprised to discover that one or two ice cubes can make Magnus even more refreshing and approachable on a warm Texas afternoon.

As the ice slowly melts, it gently opens the aromas and softens the richness, revealing layers of dried fruit, caramel, honey, and oak-aged character.

Our favorite way to enjoy Magnus:
✅ Serve slightly chilled
✅ Add 1–2 ice cubes
✅ Pair with dark chocolate
✅ Relax and savor the moment

After more than two years of aging and careful fortification with brandy, Magnus is a wine meant to be enjoyed slowly—however you enjoy it best.

🍷 At Least 2 Years of Patience in Every Glass

Great things take time.

Every Magnus wine at Golden Oak Micro Cellar is aged for a minimum of two years before it is released. After careful fermentation, each wine is fortified with brandy and then patiently matured, allowing the flavors to develop depth, richness, and complexity.

This long aging process is one reason Magnus is produced in very limited quantities. We believe some wines simply cannot be rushed.

This Father’s Day weekend, we are opening our reserve Magnus collection for a special tasting experience:

🍷 Small Barrel, Big Challenge

Many people think making wine in a small barrel is easier than using a large barrel. In reality, it’s often more difficult.

59-gallon is the normal size of the barrel. A 5-gallon barrel exposes the wine to more oak and oxygen, causing the wine to develop much faster. This means the winemaker must monitor it closely and make careful decisions throughout the aging process. There is much less room for error.

At Golden Oak Micro Cellar, all of our Magnus wines were aged in 5-gallon oak barrels. These small barrels require extra attention, patience, and craftsmanship, helping create the unique character that makes the Magnus series so special.

The last bottle of our 2023 Setarosa batch

Every bottle tells a story, and this one marks the end of a chapter.

This weekend, the very last bottle from our Setarosa 2023 batch was shared among friends under the shade of the trees, with laughter, conversation, and a friendly game of cards.

There’s something special about enjoying the final bottle of a wine. It reminds us that wine isn’t just about what’s in the glass—it’s about the memories created around the table.

Our Red Carpet Mimosa Flight Brunch was a great success! We welcomed more guests than expected and loved seeing everyone enjoy the mimosa flights, delicious brunch, and friendly atmosphere in our Cellar Room.

The best part was watching guests relax, connect with friends, and discover new favorite wines. Many even took bottles home to continue the experience.
