I’ve been robbed – Now I need your help to keep Bayjoo alive…
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share. Recently, I fell victim to a sophisticated scam that nearly wiped out my business. Someone posing as a buyer from Tyson’s Foods placed a massive order - almost 2,000 cases of Bayjoo - claiming they wanted to set up monthly shipments. Excited about the opportunity to grow my business, I moved fast to fulfill the orders.
I shipped out 1,600+ cases, believing this could be a game-changing partnership. But when I followed up this week, their email bounced. My heart sank. I called the freight company and learned that the billing information these delinquents provided was also fake. They received the first shipment, and I was able to block the second one which is now somewhere in NJ, but they’re charging $18K (?!?) to ship back which is insane.
We later confirmed with Tyson Foods that this wasn’t the first time someone had used their name to scam small businesses. For me, this loss is devastating as it is nearly $50K worth of product...gone, leaving me with barely any inventory to continue selling.
I’ve poured everything into Bayjoo as a solo founder, and while I always thought I was good at spotting scams, this time, they got me.
This went from feeling like a potential breakthrough in my entrepreneurial journey with a promised sustained collaboration that would help me grow my business to a nightmare that heavily threatens the future of Bayjoo.
Now, I’m asking for your support. If you’ve ever enjoyed Bayjoo, believed in what I’m building, or simply want to help a small business survive, please consider donating or sharing this post. Every contribution, big or small, helps me recover from this setback and keep Bayjoo going.
Ways to Help:
-Donations via venmo: -bauuuu-1 or if you prefer Zelle, please reach out, and I’ll share my number.
-Share this post to warn other small business owners.
-Support by buying Bayjoo (if inventory allows)/pre-sales.
This journey has been tough, but I’m not giving up yet. Thank you to everyone who’s supported me - your kindness means everything.
