When I first came out while being a collegiate athlete, my goal was to be the representation I never saw as a kid. To not only be outspoken and proud Q***r man, but do it at a level where people couldn’t deny me as a person or as an athlete. Throughout my years as an NCAA gymnast I’ve become an All-American, BigTen Medalist, Nissen Emry Finalist, Student Athlete Advisory Committee President and NIL Athlete of the year all while being an activist and advocate for inclusive change in Men’s and all NCAA sports. I wanted to show people that you CAN reach the pinnacle of success while being your authentic self. You do not have to sacrifice a part of who you are to achieve your goals, matter of fact , it will only give you more fire to do so.
Now 7 years later I am full time at to help give back and still work to create cultural change throughout our nation but also the world. I get to meet, talk to, and hear from REAL change-makers who are on the front lines of this work and WERE on the front lines of the building up of our community and what we now know as “Pride” . It is so very humbling and inspiring.
I can’t believe it. I am so blessed and it’s very serendipitous.
I thank God. I thank my friends and family. And I thank the LGBTQIA+ community for being themselves and showing my younger self that there is a path to freedom on the Earth and it starts with embracing who you are.
Pride matters today and everyday. It teaches us to live openly and out. To have PRIDE in being your true self and inspiring others to do the same. To lead with love and community. To resist hate with brightness.
I love this community and I love what I do.
Happy Pride! 🌈💪🏾🌟
