Today’s regional tongue twister is brought to you by the letter F! Do you know a tongue twister that’s used to demonstrate a regional accent? There’s a pretty famous one in Tuscany.

Thanks again to for sharing their local drinks and local dialect with !

“Speaking dialect is easier for me than speaking Italian,” explained Sergio of 🥂 I appreciated this so much; it was like a throwback from an earlier era.

Local language variation mirrors geographic variation across Valdobbiadene, a top quality region for Prosecco. From village to village, the language has “microclimates” that mirror the subzones (“Rive”) for the wines.

My dialect notebook was BURNING in Verona 😆😳

Do they have a saying like this where you’re from?

Do you have an opinion about Gewutztraminer? Pungent floral and tropical fruit aromas are not for everyone, but I like wines (and people!) with an expressive personality. Exuberance and elegance absolutely coexist!

Lackluster Gewutz can present with a flabby, low-acid palate and a “grandmother’s bathroom soap” nose, but it’s never wise to write off an entire grape or category of wine.

If you’ve never tried Gewutztraminer before, my friend Michele recommends drinking it with Jamaican jerk chicken!

Thanks to the family for speaking to me at Vinitaly, where this was filmed, and for the forthcoming Modo di Bere TV!

It lasted two trains. Riveted! Did you know Genoa has an unhinged number of bookstores? Now you know!

POV: it’s time to leave the party but no one will take action 😆

coop is doing inspiring work in an Italian region that should be better known: Basilicata!

and there is a really similar tongue twister from Bari in Puglia.

Forget “where is the train station” and learn random idioms in dialect to make friends.

A Sicilian donkey throws himself down on the ground demanding bread. “You change somebody’s life in an instant,” says singer and folklorist Michela Musolino, in her full Modo di Bere interview on the donkey as the symbol of the contadino farmer in Sicilian folk music.

We act like standing up for human rights is such a big courageous choice, and but what if doing what’s right is also tiny. Simple. Easy. Clear.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the Modo di Bere podcast. You can watch the full interview on YouTube and listen, in English or Italian, on Spotify / Apple Podcasts etc.
