Well that sucks. This was a great place.

This is rough news for Middletown - but it’s been confirmed that FigLeaf is planning to close their taproom and brewery. The employees were all notified of the upcoming closure, but I don’t have details yet of when the doors will close.

The good news is that the brewery, which is owned by the March First family of brands will be moving to a new location in West Chester (as I get more details on this move I’ll share them out via a blog post) - in addition, I’m hearing rumblings that there might be interest from some buyers on the current location.

As expected, I’m still waiting on a LOT of details about this, and will share more when I have them. In the meantime, I’m curious to hear your thoughts! What’s this mean for March First? What’s it mean for Cincinnati beer? Middletown?

As one of the oldest bars in Dayton, we recognize that small businesses are the beating heart of our region. We certainly are not fans of mega-corporate bull-ees coming into our community and attacking our own. Heck, our owner, Diane, grew up in Beavercreek just blocks from where Beaver’s Mini Mart* stands today!

So in solidarity with our friends across town, we are chucking this logo out there and applying to be honorary Beavercreekers. Cheers to the little guys!

Look up how Buc-ee’s is suing a little mom & pop shop in Beavercreek, OH for brandishing the city’s mascot—a beaver—on their signage. Boo! 👎
