Grand Central Food Program

Grand Central Food Program The Grand Central Food Program is New York’s largest nightly mobile soup kitchen. Every night of the year, we hand out roughly 1,000 nutritious meals.

In response to the changing needs of homeless New Yorkers, the Coalition for the Homeless has grown into a multifaceted advocacy and direct service center that help homeless individuals and families. When "Mama Doe," a homeless woman, starved to death in Grand Central Terminal, the Coalition sprung into action that very night by handing out sandwiches. This was the genesis of our Grand Central Foo

d Program which now distributes over 1000 hot nutritious meals via a mobile soup kitchen. Our vans travel to 31 stops in Manhattan and the Bronx. In addition to meals, GCFP distributes thousands of fundamental supplies such as, blankets, scarves, hats, gloves, coats and toiletries throughout the year.
