Breonna Taylor should be turning 27 today. She was an essential worker, an EMT who protected us all, but wasn’t treated like she was essential by police - who broke into HER home (they had the wrong house), and riddled her with bullets. We can’t walk about policy brutality without talking about the countless of black women who are targeted, killed, and often forgotten. The FBI has announced an investigation into her murder, but Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer still hasn’t fires the officers involved.

It is not enough to just sit back and do nothing. White folks need to listen, check their privileges, educate yourselves and take action. This is also not a quick fix - we must continue to have hard conversations with ourselves and others once the flurry of social media posting dies down.
