New in stock - delicious southern French reds by Maison Drēno in Corbières 🍓🍒🍓🍒🍓🍒🍓🍒🍓
Virgil Drēno left behind city life for the hard, yet rewarding, work on the vineyard. After working at wineries in Corsica for several years, he decided to start his own project and found 3 hectares of vines for sale in the south of France. He is farming completely organically, using only natural herbal treatments for the health of the vines and soil, and harvesting by hand. Fermentation is done with native yeasts, and all of his wines are made without any additions, nor fining or filtration. Offering a pure expression of terroir and the rich, ripe fruit of the region, the wines are made with short macerations, which keeps them lifted and drinkable all year round. The labels are illustrations made by Lisa Mouchet that are specific to each cuvée.

Speaking of natural wine, Clos du Tue-Boeuf, along with Marcel Richaud, Dard and Ribo, Yvon Metras and a handful of others were at the heart of the nascent natural wine movement in mid-90’s Paris.
They are undoubtedly the impetus for spreading this philosophy in the Loire, which remains a hotbed for the style to this day. As Hervé Villemade, himself part of the the second wave of natural winemakers of the late 90’s, puts it: “

Howdy Folks, comin' up on Tuesday the 19th we've got a Meet the Winemaker event. We're spending time with Nicola from Elios Winery!! Coming all the way from Sicily, we'll be learning about his process on the vineyard and why he chose to make natural wine.

RSVP Required! This class will be part lecture and part Q&A style, where you'll have a chance to ask natural wine questions you've been pondering over.
