The Randall’s Island Park Alliance, Inc. (RIPA), founded in 1992, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works with the City of New York and local communities to provide an innovative and exciting destination through a wide range of sports venues, cultural events and environmental exploration. As the dedicated steward of Randall’s Island Park, the Alliance sustains, maintains, develops and pro

grams the Park to support the wellbeing of all New Yorkers. The Park offers over 330+ acres of parkland, nine miles of non-vehicular pathways, wetlands, an urban farm, a track and field stadium, a 20-court tennis center, over 60 athletic fields, and the Harlem River Event Site. Earlier this month, we hosted two Birding Adventures in collaboration with NYPL's 125th Street Library! 🐦

Members of our Natural Areas Team led attendees around the north end of Randall's Island Park, from our Living Shoreline to the Bronx Kill to the Little Hell Gate Salt Marsh. We saw great birds like robins, ducks, mockingbirds, and even an osprey! Thanks to NYPL for partnering with us on these events. We hope to see you all at the park again, soon!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for today's great events at Randall's Island Park! ⛴🍅💐

This morning, we sailed off on a Long Island Sound Boat Tour! Speakers from organizations around the area taught us about the amazing places and creatures that exist between Randall's Island and the Throggs Neck Bridge. We learned about oysters, wastewater treatment plants, fiddler crabs, and so much more. Later, Chef Keesha made delicious vegetarian gumbo and sauteed collared greens out of farm-fresh produce! Patrons learned how to make the dishes, ate many samples, and took the recipe home. In the afternoon, Alaina and Elizabeth from our Public Programs Team taught us how to make cordage out of dogbane foraged from our wildflower meadows on the island! We then picked, arranged, and tied our own bouquets with our homemade cordage.

We hope to see you at Randall's Island Park next week for Community Track Night, our final Dance in the Park of the season, an Herbal Medicine Workshop, and more.

August’s Flower of the Month is Rough Blazing Star!

This summer, our Community Food Educator, Chef Keesha, hosted three cooking workshops with LSA’s K-5 Enrichment!🥘🍅

Chef Keesha and the kids made delicious dishes using seasonal ingredients from the Urban Farm. They made pizza, pupusas, and dumplings! Some farm-fresh ingredients they used are collard greens, cabbage, carrots, onions, and kale. We’re so happy to be involved in the K-5 Enrichment and hope the cooking skills the kids learned will continue to be used!
