Fresh Food for Fresh Minds, New York - Food Revolution This is a new group to start getting people together for better food for all in New York City!

My name is Steven Birkeland and I am one of the 30 somethings who grew up on meatloaf, pizza on fridays and fish dinners alongside TV dinners in the 1970's. I want more for my friends, family members and future generations of our school age children who will become our leaders of tomorrow. I cook at home to relieve stress, try out new ideas and entertain friends and family in my Hell\'s Kitchen ho

me. At school, I am an advocate for student safety, health, academic, emotional and social development as a school counselor in the South Bronx. I am inspired by family history and personal experiences and they drive me in my choices of what I bring into my home kitchen and what I want for my students. In addition, I hope to lead our Department of Education one day in the near future as Secretary of Education and will guide deicion making policies in our school's kitchens.
