Panebianco Wines Finding the finest Italian wines and bringing them to New York since 1997

Situated in the heart of Manhattan, our boutique-quality Italian wine importer and distributor was established by Livio Panebianco in 1997. Following the passing of Livio, Nunzio Castaldo - a seasoned veteran of the wine industry - assumed ownership and management of the company. For over 25 years we have been traveling throughout Italy, from the magnificent Alps to the enchanting islands of Sicil

y. Throughout this immersive journey, we have meticulously crafted a portfolio of wine producers that not only could delight our senses, but also stay true to our beliefs. We have always been driving by the desire to establish enduring relationships with Italian wine producers, who share our devotion to values and quality. The essence of our selection process lies in the consciousness that these carefully chosen producers will meet the expectations of both our customers and consumers. After many years our mission remains steady: the pursuit of connecting the hearts of passionate wine producers with those of passionate wine aesthetes in the United States.

Volcanic wines, one table 🔥

Today in New York, Panebianco is pouring three distinct expressions of Italy’s volcanic terroirs at the International Volcanic Wines Conference 2026 🌋

From the slopes of Mount Somma with Cantine Olivella, to the volcanic hills of Soave with La Cappuccina, and the high-altitude vineyards of Irpinia with Orneta, each glass offers a different perspective on how geology shapes identity🍷

As the event gets underway, we’re also celebrating the recent recognition of Cantine Olivella’s Summa 2023 IGP Catalanesca del Monte Somma, named among the winners of the VWA Chairman’s Awards 2026 🏆

If you’re attending the tasting, stop by and discover how volcanic origin translates into place, character, and expression.

Some wines tell a story. Rosso del Soprano tells the story of a place🍷

High above the Strait of Messina, where steep hillsides rise from the sea and old vines have stood for generations, Salvatore Geraci has dedicated his life to preserving one of Sicily’s most distinctive wine traditions.

Sourced from the best parcels of Palari’s 80-year-old vineyards, Rosso del Soprano is a blend of native varieties led by Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. Warm days bring the grapes to perfect ripeness, while cool nights preserve freshness and balance.

In the glass, intense aromas of ripe berries and dark fruit unfold into a palate layered with spice, vibrant fruit, and silky tannins. Rich and approachable, it’s the kind of wine that naturally belongs at the table 🍽️

Pair it with spicy pasta dishes, grilled meats, barbecue or aged cheeses and let every sip transport you to the dramatic hills overlooking the Strait of Messina, where sea breezes and altitude shape a truly distinctive expression of Sicily.

For many wine lovers, fine wine and natural cork go hand in hand.

At the same time, an increasing number of producers around the world have adopted screw caps for selected wines🍷

In today’s newsletter, we explore the reasons behind that choice and the role that closures play in protecting wine quality from bottling to opening.

New York, a glass raised to Italian cinema 🇮🇹🎬🍷

At Lincoln Center, inside the Walter Reade Theater, the opening night of the 25th anniversary of Open Roads: New Italian Cinema — presented by Film at Lincoln Center in collaboration with Cinecittà — set the stage for a moment that goes beyond the screen.

Before the premiere of “The Kidnapping of Arabella” by Carolina Cavalli, the foyer filled with conversation, flowing glasses, and a taste of Italy in the heart of Manhattan.

Here, Italian wines from our portfolio took center stage alongside a selection of Italian cuisine, for a night where images on screen, flavors in the glass, and the quiet luxury of the room came together in a moment that felt entirely Italian 🎥✨

From medicine to one of the most distinctive terroir-driven estates in the Colli Piacentini.

What began as a family holiday home in Vigolzone became a turning point in 1978, when wine entered the lives of Stefano and Ferruccio Pizzamiglio and quietly redirected their future.

In 1984 they left everything behind to dedicate themselves to winemaking.

An unexpected road, guided by intuition, soil, and time.
