These are Mini Sausage, Egg & Cheese Waffle Sliders - sweet, savory, and perfect for breakfast or meal prep.
Ingredients
Makes 6 sliders
- 12 frozen mini waffles
- 6 breakfast sausage patties
- 6 large eggs
- 6 slices American cheese
- 1 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Maple syrup for drizzling
Instructions
1. Cook the sausage
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook sausage patties 4-5 min per side until browned and cooked through. Set aside. No oil needed if they’re pre-formed patties - they’ll release fat as they cook.
2. Scramble the eggs
Melt butter in a nonstick skillet over low-medium heat.
Crack eggs into a bowl, add a pinch of salt and pepper, and whisk.
Pour into the pan and scramble gently until just set and soft. Don’t overcook - they’ll keep cooking off heat.
3. Toast the waffles
Pop mini waffles in the toaster or toaster oven until golden and crispy, about 2-3 min.
4. Assemble
On a waffle, layer: sausage patty → scrambled eggs → slice of cheese.
Top with another waffle. The heat from the sausage and eggs will melt the cheese slightly.
5. Serve
Drizzle with maple syrup right before eating. The sweet + savory combo is what makes this work.
Tips
- Meal prep: Assemble without syrup, wrap in foil, and reheat in the oven at 350°F for 10 min.
- Cheese melt: If you want it gooey, pop the assembled bottom half under the broiler for 30 sec before topping with the waffle.
- Swap it: Use bacon or ham instead of sausage, or cheddar if you prefer.
- Make it fluffier: Add 1 tbsp milk per 2 eggs when scrambling.
