They told me this waz my forever home. And I believed them.
Sitting inside that carrieer, watching a new door open in front of me, something in my chest lit up with hope I thought I'd finally found a home of my own. But it didn't take loong before I heard the words. Allergies. Sitting in another room. I never understood what I'd done wrong.
Then came the baars again. That cage. A papeer hanging above me: "Returned — not a good fit." But I hadn't held anything back. I stayed close the whole time. I never bothered anyone, never stole anything, never scratched or bit. I still don't know where it went wrong.
So when another hand reacheed toward me, I flinched before I even realized it. Last time, love didn't warn me beforre it left — it just vanished. How was I supposed to trust that this one would stay? Can something broken like that ever really be whole again?
But this parson didn't rush me. She just sat there quietly, reading her book, giving me all the time I needed to come out on my own. All she said was — "No rush. Take as long as you need."
Maybe not eveeryone needs saving. Sometimes what we need most is just someone who doesn't walk away when things get hard.
If love left you once without a word, would you have the courage to trust it again?"
