Hapa Drink Company co-founder Annie Truong shares her perspective on Hawaiian culture and Aloha spirit:

“Candidly, I am the only Hapa co-founder not from Hawai’i but I have felt like part of the ‘ohana from day 1, thanks to the beautiful, welcoming culture of the islands. I’ve visited Hawai’i a few times, and each time, the melting pot of cultures and diverse population made me feel safe and accepted. The general emphasis on family and community feels familiar to my own Asian heritage, so it was easy to relate. I have a good amount of friends from Hawai’i and feel a close kinship with them.

I’m not local or kamaʻāina, a “child of the land,” but I resonate deeply with Hawaiian values and am proud to be a part of the Hapa team, spreading aloha through our beverage, one can at a time.” 🍍

“One of my passions is traveling the world and when I meet new friends abroad, they always ask, “Where are you from?” When I tell them I’m from Hawaii, it is always met with, “I’ve never met someone from Hawaii before!” Their excitement fills my heart and reminds me just how special Hawaii is and how lucky I am and honored to have been born and raised there. For a majority of the people I meet, I will most likely be the only person from Hawaii they will ever meet and it’s important for me to represent Hawaii and our culture appropriately: lots of love and aloha.” 🍍

“I am honored to represent Hawaii far away from home because it is such a unique and special place. There were so many directions we could have taken when formulating Pineapple Black Tea, but the founders of Hapa Drink Company decided to return to the islands’ original with a straightforward ingredient list of tea, pineapple, and a touch of real cane sugar. Containing no artificial colors or flavors, our drink is simple, non-GMO, ethically-sourced realness. 🍍
