Persimmons are BIG this year. Better come early to avoid the BIG lines. Remember there are only 2 rules: NO PUSHING NO SHOVING!!!!
Can't wait to see everyone. We should be there first or second week of October. Really miss everyone terribly!!!

Only a small chance for tomatoes this year but the persimmons are just starting to push. Probably will be starting to sell in early October.

I sure miss the Newark Farmers Market I am pruning the persimmon trees hard today to get the biggest size ever on the fuyus. My goal is an average of a half pound each. Hopefully the crowds don't get so big I have to take Herbal T aka Bret Silva off his main jobs( holding down the EZ ups and selling bags for a dollar) to run security. I miss all the chaos and can't wait until next season. Hope everyone's new year is awesome.

It was a monster day at the Newark Farmers Market. The lines were and I got a little dizzy loading the table with fuyu and hachiya persimmons. Madhouse is how I would describe it. Complete sellout and I wanted to thank all the wonderful customers. See you guys next week

The customers were scared of the green Montana Red persimmons because they thought they were bitter. One lucky customer bit into one and bought the entire box. The crowd grew a little angry when we ran out of Big Beef and Q47 at 11 A.M. and had to settle for Romas. Pasta sauce instead of a salad and sandwich were on the menu for the late birds. Glad nobody threw any at me or my son Tyler. They were rock hard and would have left bruises. Rhodes Family Farms is on hiatus for 3 weeks but will be back late September for the official kick off of Persimmon Season at the Newark Farmers Market at the New Park Mall.

It is my last week for Big Beef and Q47 tomatoes tomorrow at the market. Unfortunately there was a mix up at the nursery and the Big Beef and Juliets got mixed up so I have tons of Juliets and not enough big beef. I also have a few Montana Red fuyu persimmons. They are green(yes green) and very sweet. Come say hi at the Rhodes Family Farm stand tomorrow.
