Just a farmer doing farm stuff!! This is my view from the mirror while leaving the house where I grew up.
Let me tell you, I never realized what all went into farming until I grew up. My dad’s always been basically a solo farmer. Of course my brother and sister help him and my brother in law as well. But growing up he didn’t have a whole army of sons to send outside to help. He didn’t have farm hands. Sure he got help from Neighbors and friends here and there. I never really helped him much. I think I did husk a small field of corn when I was 12-13 years old for some cash but that was a neighbors. I help bale some hay when I can now. This guy here grew up on a dairy farm. Milking cows before the sun came up and then again at night. Did some odd jobs here and there, and then back to farming…. I remember when I was younger he had pigs. Then he got a few random feeder steers I think. Mismatch cows he’d probably call em. Now he’s got roughly 30 cows or more. The thing is, he doesn’t have fancy farm equipment or profits that pay for labor to fix tractors. He doesn’t have a massive amount of land either. He’s just out there making deals and raking hay fields around the neighborhood. Planting and harvesting his own corn to grind his own feed. I always wondering what he was doing outside all those hot summer days, well I figured it out 30 years later! He’s a farmer, and he’s my dad 😃
