Put this on your must-visit list:📍Ambar Estate in the Dundee Hills.

The views, the architecture, the gardens, the hospitality, the food, the wine… everything is intentional.

Ambar is Willamette Valley’s first Regenerative Organic Certified vineyard, with all of their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown right on the estate.

And come hungry! Ambar has my favorite food program in the Valley, with seasonal pairings that complement each wine and special dinners led by Chef Heidi Whitney-Schile — all highlighting local farms and seasonal ingredients.

Don’t miss this one next time you’re in the Newberg area!

’Tis the season for upsetting sommeliers everywhere.🧊

Need to chill wine fast? Try these tricks:

✨Wrap the bottle in a damp towel and pop it in the freezer. Set a timer for 15–20 mins so you don’t forget it (I’ve done this far too many times 🙈).
🍇Use frozen grapes. They chill the wine without watering it down (or impacting flavor) and look festive in the glass. I’ve tried this with frozen blueberries too!
🧂Ice bucket + cold water + salt. This one is actually new to me: fill a bucket with ice, add cold water, then a handful of salt. It supposedly chills way faster than ice alone.
✨ Pour a smaller glass. Smaller pours stay colder longer, and you can keep the bottle chilling between top-offs.

And if all else fails, drop in that ice cube with zero shame. 😎

Last night we celebrated Tony’s birthday at our favorite classic steakhouse in Portland:

I have so many great bottles at home, so we opted to bring a bottle (and pay the corkage fee) rather than ordering off their wine list.

It was a fun project rummaging through my fridge to pick a wine for the night. These were my top contenders for steak night. 📸

Quick tips for pairing wine with steak:
🥩 Fat loves tannins: the richer the cut, the more tannic structure you want in the wine.
🥩Acidity is a wine’s secret weapon with steak: it keeps every bite feeling fresh (especially with richer cuts & preparations).
🥩Char loves savory wines: a steak with a smoky crust with a peppery/savory red… so good.
🥩Match the wine “weight” with the cut: you don’t want the steak to overpower the wine, and vice versa. A filet can get buried by a monster wine; ribeye can handle a big red.

Happy munching & sipping 🍷🍽️

In the spirit of Galentine’s Day, I wanted to spotlight some of my favorite women winemakers — delicious wines made by absolute legends.💘

Sip on these fabulous wines this weekend with pals—and all year round:

✨ Melaney + Malia (Landmass Wines) — They make some of the best PNW bubbles utilizing a variety of sparkling winemaking techniques.
✨ Lizzy (Mijita Wine Co.) — Lizzy absolutely crushes it with single-varietal expressions of Gamay and Cabernet Franc.
✨ Piper (Sealionne Wines) — I recently tasted Piper’s entire lineup at her tasting room in the Willamette and went home with way too many bottles
✨ Sharon (RARECAT Wines) — A highlight winery from my trip to Napa several years back. Sharon was such a pleasure to connect and sip with.
✨ Marie-Noëlle Ledru (Champagne) — This iconic woman-made grower Champagne is absolutely worth the splurge, and some of the best bubbles I have ever had.
✨ Cristina (Gonzales Wine Company) — One of my mentors in the wine industry since day 1, and her wines are spectacular.
✨ Diana (Augustina Cellars) — Her Syrah and Arneis… so dang good!
✨ Sara (Circadian Cellars) — I met Sara at the in Southern Oregon and love her playful and tasty wines!
✨ Anneka (Burton Bittman) — Anneka both makes the wine and farms her family-owned vineyard — a true badass! .bittman
✨ Lizzy (Lagniappe Wines) — Powerhouse mama + winemaker crafting beautiful, Columbia Gorge wines.
✨ Laura (Domaine Bourdy)— Managed by the same family in the Jura for 16 generations—and taken over by Laura in 2018!
✨ Meg (Flipturn Cellars) — Shameless self promo. ;)

Tag your wine bestie… and Happy Galentines to all who celebrate!🥂❤️
