A new varietal and story for us: The 2024 Columbia Gorge Nebbiolo.

Why Nebbiolo?
1️⃣ My dad and I loved the varietal from Piedmont, Italy, and bemoaned that the Willamette Valley is not generally warm enough to grow it.
2️⃣ Thanks to my friend, Anna, of , we found a vineyard- our first and likely last outside of the - with a legacy that is deeply personal to me. This vineyard on the Oregon side of the is on land once stewarded by a pioneering isei (first-generation Japanese American) farmer, entrepreneur, and community leader who helped shape agriculture in Oregon. Not surprisingly, he was imprisoned during World War II and his land taken. I thought it would be poetic justice for me, a yonsei (fourth-generation Japanese American), to make wine from this same land. In an act of fate, a new block of had just been planted when I reached out to the vineyard manager.

More will follow, but this is the first release that has been four years in the making.

✨I’m excited to introduce our newest release- our 2021 Brut Nature, which is our first ever Brut Nature! This is a sparkling wine crafted in the traditional méthode champenoise from Palmer Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir (74%) and Eola Springs Vineyard Chardonnay (26%).

🍾A traditional is the driest style of sparkling wine, bottled with little to no dosage, meaning no to minimal added sugar. After six months in barrel, we bottled the wine for secondary fermentation, where it has continued to rest on its lees for more than four years. That extended aging has brought texture, complexity, and a beautiful sense of precision to the final wine.

🥂This is a sparkling wine made for the table- oysters, fried dishes, late-night noodles, and conversation.

👋🏽 Hi! My name is Jessica and I manage our social media and am our owner, winemaker, and chief bill payer. In case you're new here, I wanted to introduce Et Fille to you:

👨‍👩‍👦 Our story is about family. It's how we started when my dad and I co-founded the winery 23 years ago, why we make wine (I learned from my dad), and what we hope accompanies our wines once they are with you.

🙋🏽‍♀️Et Fille means "and daughter," and we're now in our second generation as I make wines that are inspired by my dad's legacy and daughter's future.

🅱️ We're a Certified , which affirms our belief that we are tied to our lands, seasons, and community and it's our responsibility to leave them in a better place for our children.

🍷 Of course our focus is , but we also make multiple sparkling wines, and, coming soon, .

🌱 We own a vineyard that I expanded recently and will start producing grapes this year, but are also proud of our long term partnerships with six other sustainably farmed vineyards in the .

It's been 9 years since our co-founder and my dad, Howard, died in an accident. A few days after he died, my mom and I both said the best description of how we felt was "unmoored," as if that which we had taken for granted as steady was gone.

Now, I am grateful to have found my mooring. Continuing the winery, and growing it, has provided an anchor to him. I've been blessed to have a sense of purpose and connection that grounds me back to my dad's values. The sadness that he's not here to experience where Et Fille is today has not dissolved (how he would have loved our trip to Burgundy!), but I believe in some way he shares the present.

Some of you have been to our home and small test vineyard that my dad planted when we moved to the Chehalem Mountains in the 1980s. This is where my dad died as a result of a tractor accident when working in the vineyard. We expanded the vineyard because the land which was deemed too high of an elevation to be feasible for the past 40 years is now perfectly poised for the future. It will bear its first fruit this vintage. I can’t think of a better tribute to my dad than growing new life in the spot where he built his home for his family, vineyard that he planted as a test, and where my mom, daughter, and I have continued our lives.

Loss and growth can occupy the same plot of land.

If you know us, you know as she's done every job we've ever created starting with harvest intern. This year, we're toasting that she's been with Et Fille for 10 years! 🥂 She's been working from Minneapolis since 2020 and covers midwest distribution sales and strategic projects. It's also her birthday on Sunday, so join me in saying thank you and cheers! 🍾

Since we're amidst , I'd like to share a few thoughts about being a .

1️⃣ When you hear "woman winemaker," what do you think? I think, "Why the caveat?" My goal is to run a business with clear purpose and make excellent wine, so who cares about gender? I'm surrounded by women in our industry that inspire and teach me, not because they are women, but because they are powerful leaders of a dynamic industry during a challenging time.

2️⃣ But here's why it matters: Women comprise 6% of global CEO positions and 2025 was the first year in a long time that the % of incoming CEOs that were women declined. In our industry, it's estimated that 12% of wineries are owned by women, so we've got a ways to go before there is parity at the helm.

3️⃣ Speaking of parity, women Presidents in wine made 62% of what their male counterparts made in 2025, according to the Oregon Wine Industry Salary Survey. Granted, that gap wasn't as large at other levels, but this screams to me that we are not closing the gap at the top.

4️⃣ This is not what I want for my daughter. So let me submit that is an opportunity for us to think deeply about what we want for our daughters and what could hold them back. This is not a performative day or month that we celebrate the women leaders that are here, but an opportunity to acknowledge the facts and have direct conversations about what equality could mean.

Thanks for listening and please keep asking hard questions.
-Jessica

We are excited to release our 2023 Palmer Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir, rated 95 Points by and 93 Points by . What we love most about Palmer Creek is its texture of supple tannins layered with spice and fresh herbs. The 2023 vintage feels dense yet precise: a wine that honors over two decades of partnership while standing confidently on its own.
