As citrus production expands across South Georgia, North Florida and South Alabama, citrus greening disease and the Asian citrus psyllid remain serious threats to the region’s growers.

UGA pathologist Jonathan Oliver explains why managing the disease can be so difficult. Symptoms may take years to appear, while psyllids can spread the bacteria before growers even realize a tree is infected.

During the Citrus & Specialty Crop Expo, University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences ( UF/IFAS) nematologist Johan Desaeger highlighted newer products such as Velum, Nimitz and Salibro, which offer different residual characteristics and modes of action.
