🥛 Happy World Milk Day and Happy Dairy Month! 🥛

Today marks the beginning of Dairy Month, a time to celebrate the farmers, families, cows, and communities that make dairy possible.

For our family, dairy isn't simply what we do, it is who we are.

Green Valle Farm has been part of our family's story since 1850. For seven generations, our days have started before sunrise and often ended long after dark. Through changing seasons, changing technology, and changing times, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to caring for our animals, our land, and producing wholesome, nutritious milk.

Dairy farming isn't a job that gets left behind at the end of the day. It's early mornings, late nights, holidays, weekends, birthdays, and family gatherings planned around chores and milking schedules. It's generations working side by side, passing down knowledge, values, and a deep respect for the animals that depend on us.

This month, we celebrate not only the product, but the people behind it, farm families across the country who dedicate their lives to feeding others.

We are proud to be dairy farmers. We are grateful for the support of our community. We are honored to continue a tradition that has been part of our family for more than 175 years.

From our family to yours, Happy World Milk Day and Happy Dairy Month! 🐄❤️🥛

This morning we sent Emily off for her annual military training.

While we are focused on summer projects, farm work, and everyday routines, she is answering a different call to serve. We are incredibly proud of her dedication, discipline, and willingness to put on the uniform.

The farm will miss her for a few weeks, but we know she's exactly where she needs to be.

We wish Emily a safe and successful training. We'll be counting down the days until she's back on the farm.

Thank you for your service and commitment, Emily. 🇺🇸❤️

On my walk this morning, I found the first corn plants pushing through the soil. This is always a welcome sight after weeks of planning, planting, and hoping.

A little farther along, tucked into a wet spot we don’t mow, was a single wild iris blooming among the timothy grass. Standing all alone, it was too beautiful to miss.

And today, we’ll welcome Reeds Brook 6th-grade class to the farm.

It seemed fitting somehow.

The corn is growing. The wildflowers are blooming. And today we’ll have the opportunity to share a little knowledge with young minds that are growing too.

Not every lesson comes from a classroom, and not every beautiful thing grows where you expect it to.

We’re looking forward to showing them what life on a Maine dairy farm is all about.

Olive’s picture because why not!?! She’s beautiful and loving spring as much as us❤️

What the camera caught… Heath and Makayla on opposite sides of the road making the final push as we wrapped up corn planting 2026.

What the camera didn’t catch… Ethan and Keith, and the countless hours all four put in to get another crop planted.

3 generations. One goal.

Long days. Late nights. Dust in the air. Teamwork. Faith in the weather. Faith in the season ahead.

Now we pray for sunshine when we need it, rain( as we speak) and a SAFE, bountiful growing season.

Corn 2026 is in the ground🌽💚

Next up… 1st crop grass.

This time of year I tend to post a little more. There’s just something about spring on the farm. The long days, the fresh green fields, the sunsets, and watching another season start all over again.

Tonight, after dropping Ethan off to collect vehicles from the fields, I happened to look back. I saw him walk out into the rye we planted last fall, kneel down, and start checking it over. I actually stopped, put it in reverse, and went back just so I could take this picture without him noticing.
It was a moment I knew I would want to share and savor.

That rye will be chopped to feed our cows, then the field will be harrowed and planted back to corn again. Same ground, different season, over and over the cycle never really stops.

Seeing him kneeling down at sunset, taking a minute to look at what’s growing, reminded me how beautiful this life really is and how connected we are to the land and the crops that feed our animals.

Getting the sweet corn field ready tonight. 🌽

Hard to believe that in just a few short months this will be filled with rows of sweet corn and familiar faces stopping by the farm again. 🚜👩‍🌾🌽

Every sunrise here feels like a quiet reminder that life is always beginning again.

The start of a new day.
The greening of spring fields.
New calves, new piglets, birds returning, and another morning to care for the animals and this land that’s been part of our family for generations.

Farm life is exhausting, messy, heartbreaking at times, and beautiful all at once. Mornings like this make you stop for a minute and simply feel grateful to witness it all.

And truly, thank you.
To everyone supporting our farm through compost sales, beef sales, eggs, drinking milk and simply sharing our post. Those purchases help support this farm, our family, and even college tuition along the way.

We only have a couple yards of compost left for the season, but if anyone would still like some loaded here at the farm, send us a message. We appreciate every bit of support more than we can say. ❤️ Happy Spring🌸🌺🌼🌷🐄🚜🌾🧑‍🌾
