Last boil of the year today. Was a short and sweet season. First boil was on March 8th. We made 2,235 gallons on 5,350 taps. Looks to be about an average year. Would take that every year. Onto the huge cleanup and getting ready for grazing/hay season.

We welcomed a new bull to the farm this week. His name is Timmy. He’s very handsome and quite friendly.

We are sad to report that our Easter lamb passed away unexpectedly yesterday. We had been bottle feeding her because mom was not allowing her to nurse (this can be common with first-time moms), but unfortunately, our best efforts just weren’t enough. Sadly, this is the reality of farming. We are constantly dealing with the cyclical nature of life and death.

Since she was such a joyful surprise, this loss hurts a little extra. We are comforted knowing she got to experience great care and affection on our farm during her short time on Earth.

This moment of bright sun and snowflakes happened yesterday after her passing. It seemed fitting to capture, as she was a fleeting white little ball of light. Fly high, little one.

It’s fitting that we welcomed new life to the farm on this Easter Sunday. We thought lambing was behind us, but one of our younger ewes delivered a surprise that we found in the barn this morning.

Tallow balm is back in stock! Plus, we’re excited to offer a new product: tallow roll-on sticks. Great for quick and easy application for lips, face, and hands. The sticks have gotten great feedback so far because they’re so convenient.

These products have finally been added to our website. Jars are $10 and sticks are $5. Both shipping and farm pickup are available. 🐮👌🏼

🔔 Our website has been updated with fresh stock of 2026 syrup! 🔔

Orders can be placed online (with options for both pickup and shipping) at www.headwatersfarmvt.com

Please note that we did have to apply a slight increase to our shipping prices this year to keep up with rising costs.

We greatly appreciate everyone who continues to support us! We truly couldn’t do it without you. 🍁🍁

🍁 Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came out for our open house today… we did not expect such a great turnout! Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate this week so we did not have any sap to boil. But we were happy to show folks around, teach about the process, and offer samples of warm syrup. It’s great to see our community come out and be so supportive. We would also like to thank the Newbury Historical Society for their partnership in setting up this event! 🍁

Thank you to the Newbury Historical Society for partnering with us on this event! We will have maple syrup for sale, along with our beef, and there will be coffee & maple cream donuts. There will be people directing traffic as the road is 1-way travel only. We can also offer parking at our farm and shuttle folks over if it gets too congested. Hope to see you there! 🍁☕❄️
