The lambing season started out rough this year. Stevie lost her little ewe lamb as it was stillborn.
Stevie's daughter, Gopher, just had two lambs. So far a healthy ewe and ram.

Farm life can be heartbreaking. But when you see the immediate excitement on your kids faces at breakfast when they realize there are lambs waiting down at the barn.....it heals some of the hurt.
We have 2 more ewes , Grace and Frankie, left to lamb.

Girls are bred to lamb in the end of March/April.
2023 recap:
9 lambs born from 4 ewes.
2 sets of triplets (identical genders by twin ewe mothers)
1 set of twins
1 single

We lost 3 lambs.
Processed 4 already
2 left to process (currently 7 mo old)

Had to pull 2 lambs during delivery because they were leg back and wonky.

This year has been an enjoyable and always a learning experience

Once we had our 1st goat we were hooked.

Now here we are... back in goat business
Meet Basil, previously Magnolia from The Quarter Acre Farm.
She is half Nigerian and half Alpine.

Summer squash
$1 per lb

Shred it and freeze it for winter (it's what we do)

We add it to all the things and use it like riced cauliflower!
