As I see the look of stress and worry on all my neighbors and friends this planting season, I can't help but just feel broken.
I know that I look the same way. At the elevators , coops , coffee shops and in the fields , heads are hanging low , conversations consist of "I don't know if we will pull out of this" I'm not going to lie , IT IS SCARY. For all the haters that stereotyped us as "rich farmers" stealing off the government while we drive our big tractors and new trucks, you may be happy for a moment , until you get hungry.
That's all I will say about that , it will only cause a big argument that will lead to nowhere but more hurt. Anyway, from the outside , people may look and say , "people lose jobs everyday , just do something else". Well , they are partially right. If you are actively farming, you KNOW how to work and WILL to provide for your family because that's what we do without a thought. That's because farming isn't just a "job" , it's a way of life.
That's what the outside doesn't see.
It is not the fear of losing a job that has the heads down this year , it's the fear of losing a way of life.
I know , "this is the same guy that preaches to us every morning . Where is his faith now ?"
One thing I've learned through the farm life is to be honest.
I'm honestly scared of the outcome and the future of this industry .
My faith is and will ALWAYS be In Jesus, even if my plan and His aren't the same. He WILL provide.
I'm a "Make A Wish" volunteer and we grant wishes for children with life threatening diseases. I had just lost my twin brother to drug addiction and was completely broken.
God kept leading me to this little boy in Stuttgart Ar that needed his wish granted. I wasn't in any state of mind to do this but I knew God had a purpose for us to meet.
A 14 year old that liked football , hunting and fishing.
Sounds like your typical southern boy. We begin to discuss his wish and then he begin to share about his disease and how God was helping him.
He had brain cancer with very little hope. I've had the privilege of hearing a LOT of famous preachers and men of God speak but NOT ONE of them taught me as much as this young man did.
He looked me straight in the eyes and said "God has got this. either way,I will be okay" I WILL NEVER FORGET THOSE WORDS!
His dad called me and asked if I would help pray that they would have one more Christmas with him.
My heart just broke , but we ALL prayed together and on December 26 , 2015 .
Price "the Rock " Hancock became "okay" in the arms of Jesus...
I don't know how many of us will survive this storm we are currently going through in farming and continue this way of life , but I do know that , if we put our faith and trust in Jesus , "Either way , I will be okay " "God has got this"
Someone commented on an earlier post that I can't get out of my head .
"When God starts paying my bills , I will stop working on Sunday"
I don't even know who it was , but PLEASE know that Jesus paid our bills when He hung on a cross for you and me.
I know not everyone will believe , but please don't let it be because We haven't done everything we can to share Jesus with them and remember that someone is always watching how you handle adversity .
May our walk of faith reaveal to them that "either way , I will be okay" as long as I trust Him.
Today , as the fear of our future is on our hearts and minds , "I FIND MY PEACE IN JESUS NAME"
āRejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.ā
